Anya Matanovic

Praised for possessing a “thrilling vocal color” and “the effortless emotional presence of a born actress”, Anya Matanovic made her professional debut as Mimi in Baz Luhrmann’s La Boheme in Los Angeles and has gone on to perform with opera companies and symphonies worldwide, to great acclaim.

Her 2025-2026 season began with a role debut as Wendy Torrance in Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell’s The Shining with Nashville Opera. She returns to the roster of The Metropolitan Opera to cover Violetta in La Traviata and Musetta in La bohème, as well performing and recording the role of Sardula in Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Last Savage with Odyssey Opera and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project.

Future seasons include a role debut at Boston Lyric Opera to open their 50th season, and her Met debut.

Anya has performed leading roles and as a soloist in concerts with the Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Utah Opera, New York City Opera, Madison Opera, Opera Colorado, Boston Lyric Opera, Kansas City Lyric Opera, New Israeli Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra.
